By: Neil Patrick G. Nepomuceno

Driven by compassion and service, UnionBank Lucena Branch held its first Medical Mission on February 22, 2026, together with Our Lady of Guadalupe Association of St. Ferdinand Cathedral in Lucena City, bringing free medical care to children and adults through the dedication of UnionBank volunteers and selfless medical professionals.

The initiative brought together UnionBankers, parish officers, and volunteer doctors in a shared effort to address the healthcare needs of underserved members of the community. From registration to the distribution of medicines, employees of UnionBank Lucena actively supported every stage of the mission, ensuring that beneficiaries were assisted with care, efficiency, and empathy throughout the day.

Officers and members of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Association played an equally vital role, working closely with UnionBank volunteers to ensure the smooth flow of operations. Their enthusiasm and hands-on participation helped create a warm and welcoming environment, reinforcing the shared purpose of service and compassion.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the activity was the commitment of volunteer doctors who generously offered free medical consultations to both children and adults. Despite it being a Sundaythe doctors chose to serve the community, exemplifying a deep sense of dedication that extended beyond their professional responsibilities.

For the UnionBank Lucena team, the medical mission became a meaningful expression of serviceUnionBank Lucena City Branch Ambassador Gerald Pagdonsolan, the activity gave employees the opportunity to go beyond their daily roles and personally serve the community. “Being able to spend our time and energy caring for the health and well-being of impoverished parishioners made the experience truly humbling,” he shared, adding that the mission was “deeply fulfilling for everyone involved.”

The impact of the outreach was felt by the beneficiaries themselves as one of them shared, “We are truly grateful to UnionBank for bringing this medical mission to our community and making healthcare accessible to families like ours,” A volunteer participant echoed the sentiment, saying, “UnionBank’s outreach made a real difference today, and we felt the genuine care behind every service provided.”

This meaningful initiative was made possible through Go Beyond Communities (GBC), UnionBank’s flagship CSR program that empowers employees to lead and participate in impactful community projects. By sponsoring and encouraging UnionBankers to volunteer, UnionBank enables initiatives that support remote or struggling communities while also promoting easy-to-digest financial and cyber literacy sessions.

The activity reflects the Bank’s continuous commitment to making a difference beyond banking. Through employee-led initiatives under Go Beyond Communities, UnionBank continues to bring care closer to communities, uplift lives, and create lasting impact through service, collaboration, and genuine compassion.
