Building Better Tomorrows: UnionBank’s GoBeyond Communities reaches Sariaya, Quezon

On the morning of August 9, 2025, the modest grounds of Montecillo Elementary School in Sariaya, Quezon transformed into a space of celebration and gratitude. UnionBank employee volunteers arrived at Montecillo Elementary School, warmly welcomed by a touching program prepared by the school, with parents present to witness the meaningful exchange.

What unfolded was more than just a turnover of donations—it was a powerful reminder of how compassion, collaboration, and purpose can uplift an entire community.

As part of UnionBank’s flagship CSR initiative, #GoBeyond Communities (GBC), the team shared the importance of financial literacy and the Bank’s mission to empower underserved schools and communities. The volunteers representing Lucena Branch, Digi BCM, and AMLOO/FIU unit all spoke passionately about the value of education and the role of comfort in learning.

One of the most emotional moments came during the turnover of chairs, a gesture that resonated deeply with both the volunteers and the school staff.

“I felt emotional during the turnover of chairs because we know how important the comfort of students is while studying,” shared one volunteer. “Seeing their joy reminded us why we do this.”

UnionBank’s commitment to supporting under-resourced schools was evident not just in the donation, but in the presence and participation of its people. The Bank allocated a budget for essential items, and its dedicated volunteers came together to make the project a reality—bringing not just resources, but heart.

Among those who made a lasting impression was Jona, UnionBank’s Senior Digital Branch Ambassador.

“During my speech, I became emotional—not from sadness, but from pure joy. Seeing how much the teachers and students valued something as simple as comfortable chairs was deeply moving. Their gratitude reminded me of the real impact we make.”

The school community responded with warmth and appreciation. Teachers, students, and parents shared heartfelt stories, prepared local delicacies, and expressed excitement about surprising the students with their new chairs. Their hope is that more stakeholders like UnionBank will continue to support their journey.

“We all have the power to go beyond our roles,” Jona emphasized. “Through GBC, we can turn purpose into action and help build stronger, more resilient communities.”

Through initiatives like GoBeyond Communities, UnionBank continues to champion employee-led efforts that bring lasting impact to remote and struggling communities.
