Hope in Action: UnionBankers Create Meaningful Moments in Iligan

By: Neil Patrick G. Nepomuceno

On December 13, 2025, volunteers from the Iligan Branch, led by Branch Ambassador Faith Rebuta, brought hope, learning, and joy to children at Lay Spiritan Church in Iligan City through UnionBank’s Go Beyond Communities (GBC).

From 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN, the team dedicated their time and energy to creating a meaningful experience for young beneficiaries, turning a simple morning into a powerful expression of compassion in action.

UnionBank supported the initiative by providing essential resources and strengthening volunteer engagement. This allowed the team to focus fully on delivering a seamless and heartfelt program. Beyond distributing school supplies, volunteers shared genuine moments of care and connection with the children, making the experience more personal and impactful.

Upon arrival, the volunteers were welcomed by an energetic group of childrenBefore the distribution, the children delighted the group with performances they had prepared, featuring songs, short dances, and proud presentations.

For Faith and the Iligan Branch volunteers, the outreach was deeply fulfilling. Seeing the children’s joy reaffirmed the value of showing up with purpose, presence, and compassion.” She said.

Faith encouraged fellow UnionBankers interested in launching a GBC project to start small, understand the community’s real needs, collaborate with others, and trust that sincere efforts can lead to meaningful change.

As UnionBank’s flagship CSR program, Go Beyond Communities (GBC) continues to support employee-led initiatives that uplift the lives of communities while promoting accessible financial and cyber literacy, one meaningful service at a time.
