UnionBank Volunteers Team Up with Father Didaco Bessi Foundation to Donate Food and Groceries to Community Children

On May 4, 2024, UnionBank volunteers from the BGC Region came together to organize a heartwarming project called “Orator with U” as part of their GoBeyond Communities initiative. The project provided essential supplies and financial literacy education to children in need, making a meaningful impact on the local community.
The volunteers prepared bags of groceries filled with rice, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, milk, and various condiments. They also arranged fast food meals for the children, which brought smiles and joy to their faces. Additionally, a short talk on financial literacy was given, focusing on smart saving and money management practices, with the hope that the children would learn and apply these skills early in life.
The children benefiting from this project are cared for by the Father Didaco Bessi Foundation Inc., under the guidance of the Dominican Sisters of Santa Maria of the Holy Rosary. The children’s happiness was evident after receiving the gifts and food.
Sister Regine expressed their gratitude, saying, “The children were thrilled with the Jollibee meals because it’s a rare treat for them. The groceries, especially the rice, are a great help. We are really grateful to you and UnionBank for choosing us.“
Mary Shier Nuñez, Branch Ambassador and project organizer, found the initiative deeply fulfilling. “Since I started working at UnionBank, I have become active in joining GoBeyond Communities projects. It was very fulfilling to know that we could help in small ways. The preparation and planning were all worth it, especially after seeing the smiles on the children’s faces,” she shared. Nuñez chose the Father Didaco Bessi Foundation because she once aspired to be a Dominican sister.
This outreach didn’t just bring joy and essential resources to children, but also fostered a culture of generosity and financial literacy.
