UnionBank, AWS Partners in Improving uses of Data

JUNE 10, 2022 – AWS (Amazon Web Services) and UnionBank’s ULAP (Users Load Applications and Platforms) Guild teamed up to educate UnionBankers about the importance and relevant uses of Data.
The e-learning session was led by AWS Expert, and Head of Analytics, Mr. Johan Sulaiman, who shared the importance of data in making crucial business decisions.
As UnionBank continues to speed up its Digital Transformation, data-driven decisions will be crucial to serve the needs of its customers and stakeholders. He explained these by introducing the ‘new realities’ when customers research or access UnionBank’s array of financial products and services.
“We need to put our head around the scale of relevant data that is now available to us in order to understand that the old way of data processing is not sustainable anymore.”

Mr. Sulaiman followed this up by explaining the importance of complying with various types of customers, and the demand for faster decision making and real-time data.
“Gone are the days where customers of a bank would go to a branch. Nowadays they have the option to access your App, and website where the customer demands a faster response time.” Said Mr. Sulaiman.
“The gap between insights, and action is much shorter when we put the data and decision-making in the hands of the frontline employees.” He added.
The one-hour e-learning session was filled with advanced yet understandable breakdowns of data-gathering, effective uses of data, and the organizational efforts that are vital when incorporating these data-driven processes.

The E-learning session ended with a Q&A session and a short quiz, facilitated by UBP’s Learning and Development Head, Ms. Joanna Romero Wolf. Over 50 participants from different branches, departments, and IT specializations joined the Q&A and the short quiz.
