By: Neil Nepomuceno

UnionBank acknowledges the need for a more efficient and secure environment for its customers’ data. That is why the Bank’s ULAP Guild (Users, Load, Applications and Platforms) teamed up with AWS experts to learn more about AWS Security.

Held last Wednesday, June 8, around 86 UnionBankers from IT (Information Technology), the Data and AI (Artificial Intelligence) Policy Team, and UnionBank’s digital arm, UnionDigital gathered virtually to learn from AWS, Head of Security, Rhys Evans.

Mr. Evans kicked off the session by giving examples of how UnionBank could scale rapidly by migrating to the secure Cloud environment of Amazon Web Services.

“With AWS, you can get more security and meet compliance requirements such as data locality protection and confidentiality with our comprehensive products and features.”

– Rhys Evans.

The session also involved a refresher of the AWS-Shared responsibility model, and a detailed coverage of the secured AWS Global Infrastructure and the AWS Foundational and Layered Security Services.

Mr. Evans also presented AWS’ best security practices that UnionBank can adopt in its infrastructure.

Like the previous e-learning sessions, it was capped off with a short quiz followed by an engaging Q&A session with Mr. Evans and UBP’s, Learning and Development Head, Ms. Joanna Romero Wolf.

With UnionBankers equipped with AWS’ industry-leading Security features, the bank’s IT Infrastructure, services, and overall customer experience is projected to improve in the coming months.
