UnionBankers Bring Love to Animal Rescues in Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)

Last June 3, 2023, UnionBank volunteers from Makati CBD Region came together to participate in the “No Paws Left Behind” outreach event. This event was organized under UnionBank’s employee-led, bank-funded CSR Initiative, GoBeyond Communities.
The beneficiary for this event was the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), where the volunteers were greeted with open arms by the PAWS team. Their warm welcome and appreciation set the tone for a day filled with shared compassion and a common goal of making a difference in the lives of animal rescuers.

The volunteers were given a unique opportunity to gain insights into the inner workings of PAWS. They embarked on a tour of the facilities, witnessing firsthand the processes involved in rescuing and caring for animals. The volunteers learned how animals are isolated based on their needs and behaviors, highlighting the organization’s dedication to individualized care.
Throughout the day, some volunteers shared their personal experiences with rescue missions, spay and neuter programs, and the importance of spreading awareness about animal rights. These heartfelt stories served as a reminder of the transformative impact that compassionate actions can have on both animals and humans.

Volunteers were also introduced to Star, a dog born with foot disabilities that affected her ability to walk properly. Despite her challenges, Star radiated joy and allowed the volunteers to pet her and even carry her for playtime.
Other dogs at the shelter also got their share of attention, as the volunteers engaged in playtime and bonding activities. The day was filled with laughter, wagging tails, and heartwarming moments.

To show their appreciation, the volunteers extended their heartfelt gratitude to PAWS and made generous donations. Their contributions will go a long way in supporting the strays in the shelter and furthering PAWS’ mission to protect and care for animals in need.
In total, the outreach event benefited close to 300 rescue cats and dogs. This serves as a reminder that by coming together, we can make a profound and positive impact on the world, one paw at a time.
