After three challenging seasons that saw the team finish as first runner-up, the UnionBank Basketball Team entered the 2026 Eastwood Inter-Office Basketball League with a renewed focus on improving their chemistry and execution on the court.

The team committed to a more disciplined preparation, dedicating evenings to structured practices that went beyond the usual casual runs. With drills, playmaking sessions, and a shared goal of strengthening their synergy, the players approached the season with a stronger sense of purpose.

That commitment quickly translated into results as UnionBank completed a perfect 12–0 seasonultimately capturing the championship at the Eastwood Inter-Office League. Each game demanded intensity and composure, with the team consistently stepping up through disciplined defense, unselfish ball movement, and timely scoring.

The league featured eight teams competing in a single round-robin elimination phase, where each squad faced one another. The top four teams then advanced to the semifinals, played in a best-of-three series, before the winners met in another best-of-three finals series to determine the champion.

UnionBank faced tough competition throughout the tournament, going up against neighboring teams from Eastwood Mall, IBM Network, LeGrand Towers, J&T XSpeed, Palazzo Kings, Liloa Fire Safety, and ECPay.

In the semifinals, UnionBank matched up against Palazzo Kings, delivering a strong performance to secure a 2–0 series sweep, winning Game 1 (85–70) and Game 2 (86–76).

The finals against J&T XSpeed proved to be a thrilling contest. Game 1 went down to the wire, with UnionBank narrowly securing a 93–91 victory. Carrying that momentum into Game 2, the team relied on disciplined defense and steady execution to close out the series 77–69, completing a 2–0 sweep to claim the championship.

UnionBank’s balanced offense played a key role throughout the season, with five players averaging double figures in scoring, reflecting the team’s depth and unselfish style of play.

Two players also delivered near double-double performances that helped anchor the team on both ends of the floor. Jonathan Cubacub averaged 12 points and 9.2 assists per game, directing the offense and creating opportunities for teammates, while Von Lumaday provided a strong interior presence with 10 points and 13 rebounds per game.

When the final buzzer sounded, the team celebrated not only a championship victory, but the culmination of months of preparation, discipline, and teamwork.

UnionBank continues to champion employee wellness and engagement by supporting hobbies, sports, and interest groups that bring colleagues together beyond the workplace—fostering connection, teamwork, and balance that strengthen the UnionBank community both on and off the court.
