Building Synergies: ACI, the Construction Arm of the Aboitiz Group
By: The Aboitiz Transformation Office
Aboitiz Construction continues to build the foundations of progress for the Aboitiz Group by delivering projects that strengthen industries, enable communities, and shape a lasting future.
For decades, Aboitiz Construction, Inc. (ACI) has been a trusted partner in building the foundation of the Aboitiz Group’s growth. From its early years delivering modular solutions for heavy industries as well as infrastructure works, the company has continuously evolved to meet the expanding needs of the Group—supporting both internal business units and partners within the growing Aboitiz ecosystem.
Today, its portfolio spans infrastructure, heavy and light industries, and other specialized works. Each project stands as a milestone that reflects its role as the construction arm of the Aboitiz Group and its continued progress toward becoming a premier player in the industry.
Building the Future of Estates: Site Development at LIMA Estate
ACI has built a strong track record in site development, playing a vital role in enabling the growth of the Aboitiz Economic Estates.
At LIMA Estate, ACI has completed site development work on the majority of 213 hectares awarded to it across multiple phases, including Lima Industrial Hub Phase 3 and 4, and Biz Hub 40-hectare expansion. To date, ACI has been awarded Php 8.4 billion across LIMA and TARI Estate, showcasing its commitment in supporting these estates.
Beyond site works, ACI also constructed critical infrastructure:
The Spine Road and Bridge (Php 97 million), ensuring connectivity within the estate.
The flyover bridge project LIMA Estate, which is currently being built, will significantly ease logistics and mobility for LIMA locators.
These projects highlight how ACI not only builds land but also helps lay down the backbone for estate growth.
Supporting the Ecosystem: Big-E Food Processing Plant
ACI’s impact extends beyond Aboitiz SBUs and into its wider ecosystem. A notable example is the Big-E Food Processing Plant in LIMA, a future home to the beloved Lemon Square brand.
From the ground up, ACI has provided both engineering and construction support for the seven-hectare facility, delivering civil, structural, architectural, and plumbing works. This Php 2 billion-project demonstrates its ability to deliver end-to-end solutions for partners seeking world-class industrial facilities.
Specialized Expertise: Maco Mooring Dolphins BESS Project
ACI has also honed its expertise in specialized projects. In 2021, AboitizPower launched Southeast Asia’s first floating energy storage system at Therma Marine Inc. (TMI) in Maco, Davao de Oro.
It contributed to the project by constructing mooring and breasting dolphins that support the 49 MW system by stabilizing the offshore barge. Leveraging its port construction experience, ACI ensured a ‘safety first’ mindset, skilled execution, and strong project management throughout the build.
Building for Operations: Fabrication of Concrete Slats
Aboitiz Construction also creates value directly for Aboitiz Foods’ operations. For Pilmico’s swine farms, the company fabricates concrete slats designed to improve sanitation and animal welfare.
To date, more than 15,000 slats have been produced, with another 35,000 underway—demonstrating how it supports even the more operational aspects of the Group’s businesses.
Looking Ahead: Building Synergies for the Future
From years of delivering site development, structural, and specialized construction projects across the Aboitiz Group and its affiliates, ACI Construction has built a proven track record of quality and reliability.
With recognition earned internally, the company is setting its sights on high-value projects where it can showcase its expertise.
“We are building on our decades of experience to take on larger, more complex projects. Our goal is to become a premier construction company not just within the Aboitiz Group, but across industries in the Philippines and beyond,” said Antonio Peñalver, Executive Director of Aboitiz Construction.
The company is set to expand into the following:
§ Data Centers, Cold Chain Storage, and Equipment Rental (2026)
§ Public Works and Residential Projects (2027)
§ Transportation Infrastructure and Power Plants (2030)
By leveraging its experience, technical capability, and reputation, ACI is ready to play a larger role in the construction industry. The company envisions itself to become a premier construction company by 2030, becoming a reliable design-and-build contractor with a dominant presence in several markets and a growing international footprint.
From site development at LIMA Estate, to advanced energy infrastructure, to industrial plants and farm solutions, ACI continues to build the foundations of progress for the Aboitiz Group and beyond. Each project is more than a construction milestone—it is a contribution to the Group’s broader value creation model.
